                                       Jehovah….YHVH

Understanding first that Hebrew is written and read from right to left which is opposite of how we read in english our first letter is Yud or Yod. What is amazing about the Hebrew alphabet is each letter is not just for sound but also had it’s own meaning. The Hebrew text we are using is the Modern Hebrew (Post Babylon Exile) as it appears today. We will look at ancient Hebrew in a future study as that gives us even greater detail.

1st letter Yud/Yod: means A Hand that is accomplishing something, working, performing a mighty deed

2nd letter Hey/Heh: means to reveal, behold, look and also the ancient Babylon show it as a man lifting up his hands to the heavens.

3rd letter Vav: means an iron nail, a peg or a hook, joining together, making secure or becoming bound.

4th letter Hey/Heh: means to reveal, behold, look and also the ancient Babylon show it as a man lifting his hands to the heavens.

So when we as Christians read this it simply states “Behold the Hand Behold the Nail”

Looking forward as we read Jehovah in the Bible it would be important to remember to Behold the Hand and Behold the Nail.
